The Face at the Window is a classic horror story by M.R. James that tells the tale of a man who is haunted by the face of a young woman that he sees in his window. The story is full of suspense and terror, and it will keep you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end.

The story begins with the narrator, a young man named Paxton, who is staying in a rented room in an old house in the countryside. One night, he is awakened by a noise outside his window. He looks out and sees the face of a young woman pressed against the glass. The face is pale and beautiful, but it is also full of terror. Paxton is terrified, and he quickly closes the curtains.

The next night, the face reappears. This time, it is even closer to the window, and Paxton can see more of its details. He sees that the woman is young and beautiful, but her eyes are full of pain and sorrow. Paxton is drawn to the face, and he finds himself unable to look away. He watches as the woman slowly turns her head and looks directly at him. Her eyes meet his, and Paxton feels a chill run down his spine.

Paxton is now convinced that the woman is a ghost. He is terrified, but he is also fascinated by her. He wants to know more about her, and he begins to investigate her story. He learns that she was a young woman who was murdered in the house many years ago. Her name was Alice, and she was killed by her husband.

Paxton is now determined to help Alice. He wants to find her husband and bring him to justice. He knows that it will be dangerous, but he is willing to risk his own life to help her. Paxton tracks down Alice's husband, and he confronts him. The husband confesses to the murder, and Paxton turns him over to the police.

With Alice's husband behind bars, Paxton is finally able to rest easy. He knows that Alice's ghost will no longer haunt him, and he is grateful for the opportunity to have helped her.

The Face at the Window is a classic horror story that will stay with you long after you finish reading it. It is a story of suspense, terror, and redemption. It is a story that will make you think about the nature of good and evil, and it will remind you that even the darkest of hearts can be redeemed.

If you are looking for a good horror story to read, I highly recommend The Face at the Window. It is a classic for a reason, and it is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end.
