Triumph Motorcycles has a long and storied history, dating back to the early days of motorcycling. The company was founded in 1885 in Coventry, England, and its early bicycles were renowned for their quality and performance. In 1902, Triumph began producing motorcycles, and quickly established itself as one of the leading manufacturers in the world.

In 1940, Triumph's Coventry factory was destroyed by German bombing raids. The company was forced to relocate to a new factory in Meriden, Warwickshire, where it remained for the next 50 years. The Meriden factory was a hive of activity in the post-war years, as Triumph produced a wide range of motorcycles, from small commuter bikes to large touring machines.

Some of Triumph's most iconic motorcycles were produced at the Meriden factory, including the Bonneville, the Tiger, and the Thunderbird. The Bonneville was first introduced in 1959, and quickly became one of Triumph's best-selling models. The Tiger was a popular adventure bike, while the Thunderbird was a classic touring motorcycle.

The Meriden factory was also the site of some of Triumph's darkest days. In the 1970s, the company faced financial difficulties, and was forced to go into receivership. The factory was closed in 1983, and the Triumph brand was sold to a group of investors.

In 1990, Triumph Motorcycles was relaunched, and production resumed at a new factory in Hinckley, Leicestershire. The company has since gone from strength to strength, and is once again one of the leading manufacturers of motorcycles in the world.

The Meriden factory may be long gone, but its legacy lives on in the motorcycles that were produced there. Triumph's classic models, such as the Bonneville and the Tiger, are still popular with riders today, and they are a testament to the skill and craftsmanship of the workers who built them.
