Young's vision for the LDS Church was one of expansion and growth. He believed that the Latter-day Saints were destined to build a Zion, or a heavenly city on earth, and he saw the westward migration as a step towards that goal.

In 1847, Young led the first group of Latter-day Saints into the Salt Lake Valley, which they believed to be the future site of Zion. Over the next few years, thousands of Latter-day Saints followed Young to Utah, and the Mormon community in the West began to grow.

As the Mormon community grew, Young began to look for ways to expand their influence beyond Utah. In 1855, he sent a group of missionaries to Oklahoma, then known as Indian Territory. The missionaries were successful in converting a number of Native Americans to the LDS faith, and soon a small Mormon community was established in the area.

In 1867, Young visited Oklahoma himself and was impressed by the potential for Mormon growth in the region. He authorized the establishment of a Mormon colony in Oklahoma, and soon a number of Mormon families moved to the area.

The Mormon colony in Oklahoma was successful, and within a few years, there were several Mormon towns and settlements in the region. The Latter-day Saints played an important role in the development of Oklahoma, and they continue to be a significant part of the state's religious landscape today.

Young's legacy is complex and controversial. He was a charismatic leader who was often praised for his strength and determination, but he was also criticized for his authoritarian style and his willingness to use force to achieve his goals.

Despite the controversies, there is no doubt that Brigham Young was a key figure in the history of the Mormon faith. His leadership helped to shape the Mormon community, and his legacy continues to influence Latter-day Saints today.
